Production processes and scientific research place more and more demands on cameras. Increasingly higher resolution that allows you to detect even the smallest anomalies, as well as the number of frames per second that allows you to keep up with extremely fast processes or data transfer over long distances. In response to these requirements, Basler AG decided to create cameras with possibilities greater than classic cameras based on GigE or USB3.0 interfaces and this is how the Basler boost series was created.
Features of the series
How do Boost cameras provide such great parameters not available to other cameras? The answer lies in the use of the latest technologies and high-quality components. Equipped with excellent Sony matrices from the Pregius IMX series or the XGS series by ON Semiconductor, they are made in CMOS technology and allow for image resolution up to 45 Megapixels! Such parameters easily meet most market requirements. The cameras also guarantee a speed of up to 93 frames per second allowing for observation much more precise and smooth than the human eye. The speed of data transfer is ensured by the implementation of the CoaXPress interface in version 2.0, allowing data transfer up to 12.5 Gb per second for each channel, and thanks to the outputs in the popular Micro-BNC (HD-BNC) standard, there is no problem with the possible replacement of wires. This interface also allows data transfer up to 40 meters with maximum transfer and does not require additional power supply to the camera. All these advantages have been combined into an imaging device in the shape of a small cube with dimensions of 80 mm x 80 mm x 45 mm. Despite all these advantages and their compact size, these cameras offer an excellent value for money, making them an excellent choice for multi-camera applications as well. Basler boost cameras are also perfect for other applications that require fast, high-quality images, such as inspection of print, food products or in the medical industry.
Due to the huge amount of data transmitted via the CXP 2.0 interface, the camera requires an appropriate expansion card in the computer to which it is connected. However, this is not a major problem as Basler introduces the Basler CXP-12 expansion cards along with the cameras. In addition, Basler Camera Software Suite, compatible with all new devices, makes integration even simpler, thanks also to the implementation of the GenTL open standard.
