Modern CMOS Cameras as Replacements for CCD Cameras – New Basler White Paper
Basler would like to show his customers what advantages CMOS sensors have to offer. Many users, especially those who have previously used CCD based cameras, ask themselves this question. After the announcement by Sony to discontinue their CCD sensor production, this became a more important question. In Basler white paper “Modern CMOS Cameras as Replacements for CCD Cameras” it is explained why cameras with CMOS sensors are recommended. Cameras with these sensors are not only attractively priced, but they are also superior because of distinct technical advantages compared to CCD cameras. With high frame rates, high resolutions, fewer image interferences, and low heat generation they are superior to previous solutions.
For your application, this means that, for example, the throughput for inspected parts may clearly increase, for significantly less costs for camera and inspection systems, and without compromising image quality.
The integration of the new CMOS based camera, as an exchange or alternative to CCD sensors, is in many cases simple.
